6. STEVE PASCHALL, stole 5,000 copies of a Pipe Dream issue in 1979 to protest an editorial he strongly disagreed with. (The editorial told students to ignore a student boycott, for those that are interested.) After attempting to hide the newspapers in the bathroom of the Broome Hall dorm basement, his defense was that he did not steal the Pipe Dreams, but was actually reading all 5,000 copies in the Broome Basement crapper.

is being able to post any ridiculous thing that comes into your mind. Like the lyrics to the
tune "My Age Spota" (sung to the tune of "My Sharona" by The Knack) "Da-da da-da
da da da-da-da da da-da da-da da-da-daÍmy Age Spota!". Or, here's another one
we used to sing in the Pipe Dream officeÍ "A-dri-anne Sp-ota, likes cherry soda,
bats like Ron SwobodaÍ"
10. RONNY KLEMPNER, former Sports Editor of Pipe Dream, now Associate Counsel
of the National Bastketball Players Association. That's right boys, that guy who was sitting at our table represents the NBA Players! That means, that if Mrs. O'Neill sues her husband,
Shaquil, Ronny is right there by Shaq's side. If Lew Alcindor gets into a little
scuffle over a parking ticket, Ronny is there, as well. Whether sharing
a hot tub with Clyde Frazier and some of his lady friends, or playing 5-3-1 in Pistol Pete Maravich's
drivewayÍ that Ronny K. has certainly seen it all! Age and Klemp- great to see you Pipe Dreamers!!!

the best deal is the Surf 'N Turf, a tender Filet Mignon served with 2 delicious

a minor solo hit called "It Might As Well Rain Until September". Already well
known for writing dozens of pop hits for other artists inc. "Will You Still Love
Me Tomorrow", "Up On The Roof" and "The Locomotion", this 1962 gem was originally
intended to be recorded by Bobby Vee. The song reached #22 on the charts, but
was rarely heard on WCBS-FM. I first heard it around 1975 when I was 15 (thanks
Uncle Steve in Brooklyn) and it remains to this day one of the greatest songs
of all time. I was so shocked to see this tune on the Winnie's Karaoke Playlist,
that I sang the song solo. Then I took a leak. Then Jan, Adam, Warren and I sang
the immortal Sam The Sham and the Pharoahs classic "Wooly Booly".

6. PAULA NEWMAN. "Alright fellas, bottoms up", is Tommy Nolan's subtle way of letting us know that he wants us to leave. So when I said "Paula, maybe you could work your magic and get Tommy to bring us another round", I was kinda halfway kidding. But before you could say "Erin Go Bragh", there were 12 More Darks on that table? Paula, I think Tommy likes you. I mean REALLY likes you. In fact, I'll bet that if you needed a roommate this summer in Tax Shelter, he'd probably be interested.

Was 69 Restaurant out of peppers? What could possibly force the 2 of you to go to Wo-Hop? Ah, let me guess, the nerve endings in your taste buds finally decided to synapse and you finally came to your senses about what good food is all about, realizing that Wo-Hop, established in 1938, is the finest restaurant in all of Chinatown. There. It has been said.

9. JENNIFER KOLB, Promotion Director of Acqua Pazza Restaurant and Ken's new client. Also, the 1st of Ken's many clients to actually show up at McSorley's over the last 4 years. Kudos Jennifer, hope you had fun? Ya know, Jen, one of the nice things about running this site is being able to throw your favorite clients a shameless promotional plug. So here it goes? Acqua Pazza Restaurant, conveniently located at 36 West 52nd Street (just outside the theatre district), is like a Taste of the Mediterranean in the Big Apple. Fine Italian cuisine, at it's best. Whether it's seafood or pasta? these guys are Italian, and Italians know how to cook. They make a scungili with tomato sauce like it's nobody's business. That's Acqua Pazza, for the Italian Mediterranean Seafood Pasta Experience of a lifetime. Want to book Acqua Pazza for a party? Call the lovely Jennifer Kolb at (212) 582-6900. She "runs things" there and will be happy to answer any questions. And look for their 2" display ad, expertly designed by Ken at Coffee Cup Design Studio, in the new issue of New York Magazine, on the stands now!
10. ERIN PEYTON, Jen's friend. So, let's get this straight Erin? you were a hoola dancer in Hawaii, then you sang in a blues band in New Orleans, then you were a cheerleader for the New England Patriots, then you became a corporate attorney in New York? Wild!
After's: SCRATCHER'S (and sorry fellas, but I can never go there again, and Diane, if you are reading this, please excuse the horrible stench on the L. L. Bean jacket. The people down at the end of the bar must have come from a tour of the Phillip Morris plant or something.)
ADDENDUM (written 2/21/05)
After After's: It's been 10 days since we went to VESELKA. Not only can I still taste the BBQ Roast Pork Sandwich (piled on way too high for 4am), but I can also still hear the stereophonic kvetching from Warren and Adam about going there in the first place.

13. DOUGLAS DAHL, one of the head wire guys at ABC, and chances are, if you watch
ABC like I do (every Sunday night when I tune into "Boston Legal", the hot new spinoff of "The Practice" with Emmy-award winner James Spader), you'll be witness to some of Doug's technical wizardry. Doug is directly responsible for all of the electrons that pass through those wires and go right into your TV set. Kudos, Doug! (Doug, if I screwed up and you work for NBC, please change the ABC reference to "The Today Show" with Matt Lauer and Katie Couric. That's my favorite show on NBC.)
1:00-1:15am McSorley's Front Room (after hours, shhhh). You know, the place where Abe Lincoln had the sasparilla, and Woody Guthrie sang "This Land is Your Land", or "Goin Down the Road and Feelin Bad". That place.

Jan, it's the little creative things you do? the snowglobes, the coffee containers, the dry erase marker boards with our pictures on them, the picture frames, the T-shirts (not even including the rip-roaringly funny spreadsheets you hand out each week), that make our evenings at McSorley's so special. After leaving Steve's, we ran into Hardcore Video Jock MATT PINFIELD (MTV's 120 Minutes). I recognized him from an old Loser's Lounge show, and when he noticed Adam's hip Motorhead shirt, the conversation really started to fly. Lemmy this, Hawkwind that. This guy was right out of a Jack Black movie. REAL rock and roll! "So what do you think of Phish and the Dead?" "Man, are you kidding? They're fuckin' awesome! Hey, man, if the music's got passion and the music's got soul, it's just good music. And good music is good music! I love you guys!" Rock on brother!

Let me tell ya?For 3 days? Arnie was Neal Cassidy and I was Jack Kerouac! The 10 hour trip up there, passing 15 miles of parked Phishheads waiting in line for 12 hours to get into the show? hooking up with the supremely clutch hotel reservation?hearing the amazing Phish version of "Scarlet>Fire" from '83 on the Coventry radio station? the unbelievably clutch bus connection to the venue, who could still only get us 3 miles from the place since there were so many people? the walking? the mud? the walking through the mud?the pancakes in the Jews for Jesus tent? the Beer Garden? Always great to see 'em, my pals from freshman year in SUNY-Binghamton, whom I share so many special memories with. Like Larry, remember the time we ran into the stripper at the supermarket? Can't forget those marathon parcheesi games, eh Blake? With Ken Jones holding up Luigi, waiting for his courtesy hit? Or Ken, remember when you pissed in the snow to get that girl's attention? Man, you guy's were cool. Loved seeing all of you and let's do it again sooner. And next time we'll invite Dave Meltzer, Richie Wirth, Dave Goueta, Brian Blum, Scot Machlus, along with Jones, Gerschwer, Schaber, Bryson, Roper, Beck, and of course Kevin Hughes. (Remember those beers he gave out the first day of Orientation Week? Oh, sorry Secunda, didn't mean to leave you out of the conversation) And Donnie B. And Mark Katz. And we may as well invite Larry Cohen, Wayne Schiff and of course, Jon Firziger (not Firzinger, as Blake says). I mean, if those guys didn't move to Hinman, there wouldn't have been the space on the floor to make way for Baron's arrival. Right? Ya hear where I'm comin from?

After's: MARS BAR, part dive bar, part insane asylum. "Adam, you might remember this guy's band? The Stooges?"
After Afters: Line for Noodletown, way too long, 69 Restaurant too far, so we settled on HOP KEE. I mean?why go to a place like Wo Hop, where you get 5, count em, 5 wontons for $1.50, when you can just as easily go next door to Hop Kee and get only 3?? Why go to a place like Wo Hop, for the best Boneless Chicken in Black Bean Sauce on this side of the Atlantic, when you can go right next door to Hop Kee, where a cat once disappeared in the kitchen and never came back? Why go to a place like Wo Hop, in business since 1938, when so many others have failed (and, without any advertising mind you, except for a certain black and red shirt sold by the cash register)?when you can just as easily go next door to Hop Kee, where they tie you up and let a rubber pipe drip water on you very, very slowly, 24 hours a day!?Wo Hop, my kinda place. And Water Torture Free!
